Maiquel Falcão Ready For War To Become Middleweight Champion

After nine years in MMA, Maiquel Falcão looks for his first championship tonight when he challenges for Bellator’s vacant middleweight title.

Falcão says his confidence in his standing and ground is excellent as he’s been training physically for a while.

“When you’re in a title fight, how to fight is not easy,” said Falcão to TATAME. “Let’s see who is better at fighting and has a happier night to decide who will take home the belt. It will be war, wait.”

After one UFC appearance, Falcão joined Bellator. He won the Season 6 tournament by means of decision in all three encounters. He has not competed since he won the tournament in May of last year. He meets Alexander Shlemenko who won the Season 5 tournament.

Hector Lombard vacated the championship when he signed with the UFC in April 2012.

Bellator 88 comes from the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, GA. The show is tonight, February 7, and can be seen on Spike TV at 10 p.m. ET. The middleweight championship headlines the 10 fight card.
