In a very surprising result, former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans was defeated by Antonio Rogerio Nogueira this past weekend at UFC 156: Aldo vs. Edgar.
The loss was just the third in Evans’ career, as the former Ultimate Fighter winner could never get on track with his typically-effective offense. “Suga” failed to attempt many takedowns on the Brazilian, and never really threatened him during their three-round fight.
While Evans has yet to confirm a report by Chael Sonnen that stated he suffered a hand injury early in the fight, he did make a post via Twitter recently.
“Things didn’t turn out the way I wished on Saturday but I’m no stranger 2 disappointment,” Evans wrote. “Many doubt me but it don’t matter!! I’ll be back.”
The only other two losses Evans has suffered came at the hands of Jon Jones and Lyoto Machida. Jones is the current UFC 205-pound champion, while Machida won the belt from Evans with a devastating knockout.
