The anabolic steroid drostanalone is to blame for Thiago Tavares’ failed post-fight drug test following UFC on FX: Belfort vs. Bisping. The fighter has received a nine-month suspension.
Tavares (17-5-1) lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov at the January card from Brazil. He must submit a clean sample before returning to the UFC’s Octagon.
UFC officials confirmed the failed drug test, which was administrated by the Brazilian athletic commission. All 22 fighters were tested, and Tavares was the only one to record a positive sample.
