One person who isn’t keeping an eye on the contract issues between the UFC, Bellator and Eddie Alvarez is current lightweight champion Michael Chandler.
“I’m not following it,” said Chandler on The MMA Hour. “I saw [the proposed contact figures]…It’s not close to my numbers, but whatever. I’ve only been in the sport for three years…Eddie’s been in the sport for a decade.”
Chandler made a name in the MMA world when he handed Alvarez is only Bellator defeat and took his championship in the process.
Instead of thinking about a possible rematch with Alvarez, if he does resign with Bellator, Chandler is focused on his next fight after defeating Rick Hawn when the promotion debuted on Spike TV last month.
“I just try to keep the main thing the main thing: getting my butt in the gym,” said Chandler. “I sit back and wait for the next guy.”
Dave Jansen and Marcin Held fight next month to see who gets the next shot at the gold.
