Marlon Sandro has two failed attempts under his name when it comes to Bellator tournaments. He makes no excuse about what happened in the past and is ready for his third chance this weekend.
“They beat me,” said Sandro to MMA Junkie. “They had their moment in the light. I’ll have my moments, too. I’ll seize my opportunities. I’ll be looking to become champion. I’ll worry about what I do instead of worrying about others. My moment will come.”
During the 2011 Summer Series, Sandro made it to the finals before suffering a KO loss to Pat Curran. As a result, Curran would win the featherweight championship at a later date and still holds it. He recently defended it at Bellator 85. Sandro returned in the next tournament and made it to the finals again. This time he took a decision loss to Daniel Straus.
Sandro meets Akop Stepanyan in the quarterfinals of the upcoming season. Stepanyan didn’t get past the opening round in his only other tournament opportunity. They meet on the main card of Bellator 88.
Bellator 88 comes from Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, GA this Thursday, February 7. Spike TV airs the man card with a start time of 10 p.m. ET.
