Brent Weedman Off Bellator Tournament, Bryan Baker Named As Replacement

Brent Weedman is out of the Season 8 Bellator welterweight tournament due to an injury. Taking his semifinal place will be Bryan Baker at Bellator 90.

“You never like to see anyone suffer an injury, especially a quarterfinal winner, but when we learned of Brent’s injury, Bryan was the first guy we had in mind, and like a true professional he jumped at the opportunity,” said Bellator Chairman & CEO Bjorn Rebney.

The semifinal round of the welterweight tournament now has Baker vs. Douglas Lima and Ben Saunders vs. Raul Amaya.

Baker lost in his previous two attempts to win the tournament. He made it to the finals in Season 6, before Karl Amoussou submitted him in round one. That June encounter was Baker’s last fight.

Also on the card is the featherweight tournament final between Rad Martinez and Shahbulat Shamhalaev. Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal will fight Emanuel Newton in the semifinals of the light heavyweight tournament.

Bellator 90 takes place from the Maverik Center in West Valley City, UT on February 21. Spike TV airs the main card
