Zoila Gurgel has decided to leave Bellator in favor of a multi-fight deal with Invicta FC.
Gurgel is Bellator’s 115 pound women’s champion since 2010 and has yet to defend the title, despite competing three times since winning the gold. She took two decision wins before Jessica Eye submitted her in less than one minute at Bellator 83. Gurgel had missed most of 2011 and 2012 due to a knee injury.
Gurgel will face a TBA opponent on the fifth installment for Invicta FC. It is believed that she will compete as a flyweight.
Invicta FC 5 takes place on April 6. Conflicting reports state the show will be held in Montana, Missouri or California.
