With a win over Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Glover Teixeira is ready for big name fights. It was UFC on FOX 6 where Teixeira took the decision win over Jackson, who is a former PRIDE and UFC champion.
“I want to fight a top guy that comes from victory,” said Teixeira to TATAME. “All three opponents I faced in the UFC, I came to defeat. I want a guy who is on the same pace as me, looking for the belt. Against anyone else, I’ll be ready.”
The recent win for Teixeira was his 18th in a row. In 2012 Teixeira was in his rookie year for the UFC, when he took a pair of wins over Kyle Kingsbury and Fábio Maldonado. Only three of Teixeira’s 20 wins, including the Jackson one, went to the judges’ scorecard.
“Rampage is a former UFC champion and was in the top 10 category for many years,” said Teixeira. “He was opening the door for me to get among the tops in the category.”
Teixeira believes if he can stay healthy that he’ll earn a title shot by next year. He wasn’t opposed to ending this year with gold around his waist.
