Rashad Evans vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira

We’ve reached the co-main event, as former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans (22-2-1) takes on Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (20-5). Nogueira received a warm embrace from Antonio Silva prior to walking out after seeing his countryman stop Alistair Overeem. The referee will be Yves Lavigne.

Round 1: Evans looking to find the distance off the bat, standing right inside the reach of Nogueira. Big kick by Evans as he switches levels nicely. Nogueira using the right without much defense, and lands a straight left, as well. Pair of big rights stagger Nogueira, as they land flush. Evans ducks under a right and scores a takedown, landing a handful of punches as Nog gets back to his feet. Big right from Evans as the round comes to an end.

Round 2: Nogueira seems to be baiting Evans in here, looking to counter maybe and land a left. And, there it is, a big straight left from Nogueira. A quick left by Nog connects, as does a combo from the Brazilian. Evans has been doing a lot of these little punches to the lead hand of Nogueira, but hasn’t really followed it up with anything. “Suga” scores another takedown, and Nogueira answers with a combo. Evans lands a right hook, and fires off another.

Round 3: Evans back to peppering that right hand with strikes. Now, Evans throws a combo off it, landing with both. Another combo by Evans connects. Nogueira with a jab, and a quick kick to the body. Time is called after Nogueira gets poked in the eye. Just under three minutes left in an uneventful fight so far. Straight left lands by Nogueira, who tries to close the distance but is unable to. Nogueira gets a left to land, and Evans answers with a jab. Evans finishes strong with several strikes, but this one was not the striking battle most expected.
