The UFC, with partner FightMetric, will begin compiling official rankings following UFC 156: Aldo vs. Edgar. UFC president Dana White made the announcement Thursday.
The rankings will be reflected by a group of 90 media members who compile them following events.
“UFC fighter rankings are a great tool for new and existing fans alike to learn and better keep up with the fast pace of the UFC,” White said. “We always look for opportunities to engage fans and media, allowing them to connect and voice their opinions.”
The rankings do have a few guidelines, including that champions and interim champions be placed first or second in their respective weight classes. Also, fighters may only appear in one division.
