UFC president Dana White appears to be satisfied with the flyweight division, as the leader of the MMA promotion is already looking into adding strawweight fighters.
The strawweight consists of 115-pound athletes, 10 pounds less than the flyweight division. Demetrious Johnson, the UFC flyweight champ, recently defended his title on Fox television over John Dodson.
“As the sport continues to grow and we go into other markets like Latin America and Asia, yes, we will eventually open up a lighter weight division,” said White, during an extended interview on UFC Tonight. “It’s an amazing opportunity for fighters all over the world.”
White said there is no definitive plan right now for bringing the division to the UFC, but said “it’s going to happen.”
