Former UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra has a few names in mind if he chooses to make a comeback. The one person missing from his list is BJ Penn and Serra doesn’t seem too interested in making that fight happen.
“I wouldn’t want to fight BJ,” said Serra to Rebellion Media. “If I’m having one more fight, if that, I’d rather it be someone I’m indifferent with. That’d be an exciting fight.”
The top names that Serra wants to meet are Frank Trigg, Sean Sherk and Matt Hughes. Besides Sherk, the other are seemingly retired. Trigg hasn’t fought in 16 months and Hughes recently took an office job with the UFC. After two years away from competition, Sherk said he hopes for an early 2013 return.
Serra holds a win over Trigg and losses to Hughes and Penn. The defeat to Penn dates back to 2002 at UFC 39. Serra has never faced Sherk.
After Penn fell to 1-4 since 2010, his future is not known. UFC president Dana White said he thinks that Penn should retire.
