Cris Cyborg, Patricky Freire, Kimbo Slice: The Morning News Roundup – 1.31.13

There’s another installment of Bellator MMA tonight on SpikeTV, with this one featuring this season’s lightweight tournament quarterfinals. David Rickels versus Lloyd Woodward – hooray! Thiago Michel versus Tiger Sarnavskiy – hooray! Ricardo Tirloni versus Will Brooks – hooray! But longtime Bellator star 155-pound Patricky “Pitbull” Freire jacked his knee while sparring and is now out of the tournament at the last-minute – boo! Oh well, such is life in the world of combat sports.

• Here’s and MMAWeekly on the Patricky Freire injury. What a bummer.

• Former Strikeforce 145-pound champ Cris “Cyborg” Santos sure is reluctant to go down to 135 pounds to face Ronda Rousey. Here she is trying to goad the new face of women’s MMA into coming up in weight to meet her.

• Kimbo Slice is still boxing. Sort of. Anyway, good for him. The man deserves to get paid.

• In case you missed it, here’s TUF 17 standout Uriah Hall’s blog for the second episode, which aired on Tuesday night.
