UFC 156: A Breakdown Of The Preliminary Fights

Bantamweight: Edwin Figueroa vs. Francisco Rivera
Opening the Facebook card is Edwin Figueroa vs. Francisco Rivera. It’s the first time Rivera sees action after a July suspension for a banned substance. Figueroa looks for his third UFC win after a split-decision victory in his only 2012 appearance.

Bantamweight: Chico Camus vs. Dustin Kimura
The other Facebook card has Chico Camus vs. Dustin Kimura. After a lengthy stint in X-1, Kimura brings his perfect record of 9-0, in which he has stopped each fight, against Kimura. For Camus, he comes in off a decision win from UFC 150.

Lightweight: Yves Edwards vs. Isaac Vallie-Flagg
Yves Edwards is coming off Knockout of the Night honors at the last FOX show. It was his first fight in a year. Isaac Vallie-Flagg took back-to-back split-decisions in Strikeforce. He makes his second appearance as a lightweight.

Lightweight: Jacob Volkmann vs. Bobby Green
Jacob Volkmann’s five fight UFC streak was broken last year via first round submission. He countered that in his October fight, getting his hand raised in the process. Bobby Green has a pair of wins in 2011 and 2012. Those wins come from the UFC and Strikeforce name.

Welterweight: Tyron Woodley vs. Jay Hieron
After eight straight wins for Tyron Woodley from Strikeforce, his last meeting for them saw him suffer his first loss to former welterweight champion Nate Marquardt. Jay Hieron won the Bellator welterweight tournament, but lost the title match. He was defeated in his only UFC outing.

Lightweight: Gleison Tibau vs. Evan Dunham
The preliminary card ends with Gleison Tibau, who has found success in the UFC, but failed when he met his two biggest names in Melvin Guillard and Jim Miller. Evan Dunham is 6-3 and has three Fight of the Night honors.
