Bellator 90 will see the return of Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal as he takes on Emmanuel Newton in the semifinals of the light heavyweight tournament. Also announced is the featherweight tournament final as Rad Martinez has home state advantage when he takes on the Russian striker Shahbulat Shamhalaev. The winner gets $100,000 and a guaranteed title shot.
Lawal returns after a quick round one knockout over Przemyslaw Mysiala in his Bellator debut four weeks ago.
“I said it after my quarterfinal win, and I’ll say it again, I’m looking to smash this dude,” said Lawal. “Emmanuel is a tough guy, but I know where my game is at, and if I focus on me, we won’t have any issues on February 21st. I’m always looking for that first round knockout, and that’s it.”
Martinez comes into the finals on a five fight win streak. He took two decisions in the tournament. Shamhalaev finished his two opponents in round one.
Bellator 90 takes place from the Maverik Center in West Valley City, UT. The card airs February 21 with a start time of 10 p.m. ET on Spike TV for the main card.
