Glover Teixeira wasn’t able to finish Quinton “Rampage” Jackson Saturday night at UFC on Fox: Johnson vs. Dodson, but he picked the former UFC light heavyweight champion apart for 15 minutes.
Teixeira (20-2) earned his third UFC victory via decision over Jackson, who was making what will likely be his final appearance inside the Octagon.
After battling visa issues just to get to the UFC, Teixeira has quickly become a contender at 205 pounds. The Brazilian landed 80 significant strikes and took Jackson down five times. Overall, Teixeira was 103 of 207 in terms of total strikes.
“What now everyone???!!” training partner Chuck Liddell posted on Twitter after the match. “What now?”
Jackson complained earlier in the week that he believed Teixeira would just try to take him down throughout the bout, but instead, Teixeira used his striking to earn his 18th consecutive victory.
