After five amateur fights, Laura Sanko (1-0) started off the new year with her first professional win. At Invicta FC 4, on January 4, she defeated Cassie Robb (0-1) who was also making her professional debut.
Even though Sanko had been competing for over two years prior, there was something unexplainable as she entered the cage early this month.
“There’s something about that first pro fight, knowing this is the one that counts,” said Sanko to MMA Junkie. “It was phenomenal. I was thrilled with the opportunity to work with a promotion like Invicta, and it’s been such an incredible experience.”
Sanko is currently signed to a multi-fight deal with Invicta FC and couldn’t be happier after she choked out Robb in the second round. She now believes she deserves her spot with the other women in the sport.
“It ended like it did,” said Sanko. “I would like to be someone who finishes because that’s a more exciting fight, and I want to be an exciting fighter.”
Sanko doesn’t know when her return will be, but hopes it’s soon.
