An interesting middleweight contest is being worked on by the UFC for this year, as former UFC champion Vitor Belfort and ex-Strikeforce middleweight champ Luke Rockhold appear to be on a collision course.
Following a press conference on Thursday, UFC president Dana White confirmed that plans are being put in place for the two to square off.
“We have a fight for Vitor,” White said. “I think it’s Rockhold. That’s what we’re talking about.”
Belfort, of course, made waves recently when he stunned Michael Bisping, knocking Bisping out of title contention. He went on to call for a rematch with UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, but that doesn’t appear to be on the horizon.
Rockhold signed with the UFC after Strikeforce closed up shop earlier this month. He is 10-1 in his career, but was hit hard by the injury bug to close out 2012.
