The rumors circulating around the UFC’s middleweight division appear to have Luke Rockhold facing Vitor Belfort later this year. While nothing is confirmed, that was enough for Chris Weidman to send out the following on Twitter Thursday:
“Rumor is Rockhold vs Vitor. Great fight!,” Weidman wrote. “That leaves me and Spider July 4th weekend. He will be granted an immediate rematch in November at MSG!”
Weidman, who is recovering from surgery but has targeted a return this summer, wants UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. The Brazilian last fought in October, defeating Stephan Bonnar.
UFC president Dana White had previously stated that Michael Bisping would become the No. 1 contender with a win over Vitor Belfort, but he was defeated this past weekend by “The Phenom.”
