Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal Sees Plenty Of Competition Ahead

Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal makes his official Bellator debut in just a few hours. He meets Poland’s Przemyslaw Mysiala in the final opening fight of the Season 8 light heavyweight tournament. Even if Lawal makes it to the next stage in the tournament, he knows it won’t be any easier as the three names that already advanced place a challenge.

“They were all finishes so all of those guys are hungry,” said Lawal to MMA Mania. “I’m definitely focused on my opponent though. I’m focused on winning and winning impressively by stoppage.”

The other brackets of the tournament were decided last week at Bellator 85. Mikhail Zayats knocked out UFC veteran Renato Sobral, Jacob Noe was awarded a TKO stoppage over Seth Petruzelli and Emanuel Newton submitted Atanas Djambazov with a rear naked choke. Each win occurred within the first round.

Lawal is coming off a nine month suspension for steroids out of Strikeforce and an infection in his leg that he thought could have signaled the end of his career. Mysiala is also making his Bellator debut and competed only once last year in a losing effort out of BAMMA.

The two are set as the co-main event of tonight’s Bellator 86, which airs on Spike TV. The show comes from the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, OK and the main card begins at 10 p.m. ET.
