UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones sent out a message on Twitter immediately following Vitor Belfort’s rant about wanting a rematch. The message was clear and simple, and Jones re-stated his thoughts during a recent interview with the Opie and Anthony Show.
“I didn’t even take him seriously. At no point in time was he close to winning that first fight outside of that armbar,” Jones said. “That was the first minute of the first round. It was a 24-minute butt whooping (after that). I was like, ‘Man, don’t call me out like that.'”
Jones was able to power his way out of the submission attempt by Belfort, going on to put “The Phenom” away late in the fourth. He is next scheduled to face Chael Sonnen at UFC 159: Jones vs. Sonnen in April.
