Former Ultimate Fighter winner John Dodson made a name for himself when he joined an exclusive club. This coming Saturday, Dodson will look to join an even more elite group when he faces Demetrious Johnson for the UFC flyweight title.
The two will comprise the main event for UFC on Fox: Johnson vs. Dodson from Chicago. Dodson has become the first TUF winner in several seasons to garner a title shot, and he doesn’t plan to waste the opportunity.
“I’m excited because I’ll get to have millions of fans out there who haven’t seen flyweights and appreciate it, and they’re going to see me knock out Demetrious Johnson,” said Dodson, during a recent appearance on UFC Tonight. “He wants to be the one to make sure he’s the aggressor. If he’s the fastest guy in the cage, he’ll have the most confidence, so I’m going to make sure I can throw him off his game.”
Dodson (14-5) has scored wins over Jussier Formiga and Tim Elliott since downing T.J. Dillashaw in the TUF finale. His TKO victory over Formiga to finish off 2012 earned him his shot at Johnson and the UFC championship.
