Brent Weedman Gets His Fourth Chance In A Bellator Tournament

Brent Weedman (20-8-1) has been a part of three Bellator tournaments in the lightweight and welterweight division. All three have ended the same, with Weedman unable to win the tournament. After Paul Daley and War Machine were pulled from the Season 8 welterweight tournament, Weedman was placed against Marius Žaromskis (19-7-1 NC) in the opening round.

“I was planning on fighting in January anyways and they asked if I wanted to be in the tournament,” said Weedman on Bloody Elbow Radio. “I said, ‘Who? What? When and Where?’ All I hoped was that I would get a name. I wanted someone who is known for being a bada– and Marius Zaromskis is well-known for being a bada– so I couldn’t be happier with the match-up.”

Weedman lost to the UFC’s Jay Hieron in the semifinals of the Season 4 welterweight tournament. He didn’t get past the opening round against Chris Lozano in his next chance. After moving down a weight class, Weedman made it to the finals of the Season 6 lightweight tournament before losing by decision to Rick Hawn. Žaromskis is 3-1 for Bellator. His only Bellator loss came in the Season 7 welterweight semifinals to Andrey Koreshkov.

It will be Weedman vs. Žaromskis at Bellator 86 this Thursday, January 24. The card comes from the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, OK.
