As the one year anniversary of jiu-jitsu world champion Gilbert Durinho’s (4-0) MMA debut approaches, the Brazilian is close to signing a deal with the World Series of Fighting (WSOF). No details were provided about the possible contract.
“I’m negotiating with WSOF,” said Durinho to TATME. “The event is still new, the date has changed a few times; then you cannot be sure when I fight.”
While nothing has been signed, Durinho is hoping to compete around five times this year. Durinho has fought out of Brazil and the U.S., stopping all his opponents in the first round by submission or TKO. He needed less than a total of nine minutes to finish all his fights.
The WSOF has been rumored to host their next show in early 2013, but nothing has been made public. Their debut show was in early November and aired on the NBC Sports network as a onetime deal.
