Jorge Macaco’s (28-13) UFC career was short lived. Way back at UFC 18, Pat Miletich took a decision win over the Brazilian, who has not returned to the promotion. Now Macaco hopes that in 2013, the UFC will grant him one more chance to prove himself.
“I am 39-years-old, but I feel young,” said Macaco to TATAME. “I dedicate a lot, got gas and a great desire to return to the UFC. My goal is to get into the 70kg [175 pound] category. I want another belt in my career.”
Since his sole UFC appearance, Macaco has competed almost everywhere including stops for Jungle Fight, Strikeforce and Legacy FC.
Macaco now rides a five fight win streak, the best he’s been since 1996. Three of those five fights he finished in the first round by submission or TKO.
The current UFC roster doesn’t impress Macaco, which helps increase his mentality that he gets one more chance inside the Octagon.
“I see many fighters in the UFC that have no potential to be there,” said Macaco.
