Khabib Nurmagomedov didn’t make any new friends in Brazil with his t-shirt selection on weigh-in day, but he may have around the rest of the world have his devastating finish of Thiago Tavares Saturday night at UFC on FX: Belfort vs. Bisping.
Nurmagomedov (19-0), who improved to 3-0 since joining the UFC, rocked Tavares early in the first and finished him on the ground. The win was the seventh knockout victory for the rising star, and he informed Fuel TV about his next possible opponent after.
“The next fight I really want is Nate Diaz,” Nurmagomedov said.
Nurmagomedov credited his work with American Kickboxing Academy for his improvements, adding, “They have been great as a family. I am thankful for all of them.”
Diaz is coming off a loss to Benson Henderson in a bout for the UFC lightweight title last month.
