Former Strikeforce middleweights Luke Rockhold and Tim Kennedy were delighted by Saturday’s main event result from UFC on FX: Belfort vs. Bisping. That’s because Michael Bisping was defeated by Vitor Belfort, knocking him from the ranks of contender in the process.
Rockhold, the last man to hold the Strikeforce 185-pound title, made his feelings known with a simple smiley face on his Twitter account.
Kennedy, a former two-time Strikeforce middleweight title contender, posted, “I am SO happy right now.” The military veteran recently announced that he has joined several other Strikeforce fighters by signing a UFC contract.
No opponent for either Rockhold or Kennedy inside the Octagon has been made known. Rockhold successfully defended his title against Kennedy last year.
