Maximum Fighting Championship (MFC) has signed their first bantamweight in Anthony Birchak (9-1), as they prepare to debut the new weight class later this spring. Birchak is expected to make his first appearance at MFC 37: True Grit.
Birchak went 3-0 last year with three TKO stoppages. His only loss was in 2011 after six straight wins, in which five of those came by submission. In 2011, Birchak appeared for Bellator when he submitted Tyler Bialecki in the first round.
“Anthony is the next generation of MMA fighter,” said MFC President Mark Pavelich. “He is the total package, from his fight game to his personality to his social media skills. It’s the direction we are moving in. He can sell the fight, then back it up in the ring. The new 135 pound division needs to take notice because trouble is coming and his name is Anthony Birchak.”
MFC 37 comes from the Shaw Conference Centre in Canada on May 10, with the main card airing live on AXS TV.
