Mike Chandler’s Win Over Rick Hawn Was The Biggest Of His Career

Mike Chandler (11-0) continued is undefeated streak with a submission win over Rick Hawn (14-2) at Bellator 85. Halfway through the second round, Chandler was able to get the back of Hawn and locked his legs in. Chandler quickly flipped him over for the rear naked choke to retain his lightweight title.

“We were real sweaty, real slippery,” said Chandler to MMA Interviews. “My arm snuck in their real quick and I ripped it as hard as I could. That was the biggest fight of my life since it got me standing here with another win. I can’t wait to do it again.”

Chandler, who is now 8-0 for Bellator, returns to meet the winner of Dave Jansen (19-2) vs. Marcin Held (15-2). They meet at Bellator 92 on March 7 from the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, CA. No date for the championship fight has been announced.

Of Chandler’s 11 career wins, he has stopped nine of them. For Bellator two came by way of decision, two by knockout and four with a submission. He has finished his last three fights, which includes his title win over Eddie Alvarez.
