Michael Chandler Living The High Life Hours Before Headlining Bellator 85

Michael Chandler (10-0) finds himself on top of the world right now. Later tonight, Chandler defends his lightweight championship in the main event of Bellator 85. He will also have the honor of headlining the first Bellator show on Spike TV.

“This is a huge blessing when you think about it,” said Chandler at Tuesday’s open workouts. “The fact I have a microphone and people actually want to hear me talk, people are taking pictures. That’s one of those things I think fighters and athletes and everything take for granted. It’s cool, it’s awesome it’s part of the job.”

Standing opposite of Chandler when the bell rings will be Rick Hawn (14-1), who earned his shot at the gold by winning the Season 6 featherweight tournament. Hawn won the tournament after losing in the finals of his first outing during Season 4. Chandler is undefeated for Bellator with seven wins and took the title from Eddie Alvarez in the first quarter of 2011.

Bellator 85 airs live from the Bren Center with the main card starting at 10 p.m. ET today. It will be the promotions debut on Spike TV.
