UFC officials have confirmed a change for February’s UFC on Fuel TV: Barao vs. McDonald card, as Dennis Siver has been forced out of a planned co-main event fight with Cub Swanson. In Siver’s place steps Dustin Poirier.
The event takes place February 16 from London’s Wembley Arena. Renan Barao defends his interim UFC bantamweight title against Michael McDonald in the main event.
Swanson (18-5) Tweeted out a message recently that stated he had been told the Siver bout was a No. 1 contender match in the UFC’s featherweight division. It remains to be seen if that stipulation will carry over now that Poirier has replaced Siver.
Poirier (13-2) rebounded from a loss to Chan Sung Jung to defeat Jonathan Brookins last month. He was viewed as a title contender before the loss to Jung.
