Tim Kennedy, who serves in the United States Army while also competing inside the cage, has confirmed he is headed to the UFC. Kennedy twice competed for the Strikeforce middleweight title.
“I am now in the UFC,” Kennedy posted on Twitter late Wednesday night.
The 33-year-old defeated Trevor Smith earlier this month via submission, improving to 15-4 in his career. Kennedy was defeated in title matches against Luke Rockhold and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. Those are his lone losses since 2007.
Kennedy joins several Strikeforce fighters who have made the transition over from the promotion to the UFC. Zuffa purchased Strikeforce in 2011, and helped promote events until this month. No Octagon debut has been announced for Kennedy.
