UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has heard enough from Daniel Cormier. As far as Jones is concerned, if the heavyweight wants a piece of him, he is more than welcome to come on down to 205 and let it happen.
Jones is currently set to face Chael Sonnen at UFC 159: Jones vs. Sonnen this April, while Cormier will make his UFC debut against Frank Mir the same month at UFC on Fox: Henderson vs. Melendez.
“You know, the guys is a tremendous athlete and I wish he would just do it and just stop talking about it,” said Jones, during a recent appearance on UFC Tonight. “I am open to fighting the best guys in the world.”
Cormier, who claimed the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix title and is undefeated, has hinted at a potential drop to 205 after teammate Cain Velasquez captured the UFC heavyweight title. “DC” had trouble cutting weight during his amateur wrestling career, as it kept him from competing in the Olympics.
Jones will be looking to make history with a win over Sonnen, as he would tie Tito Ortiz for the most successful title defenses of the UFC light heavyweight title. “Bones” has currently bested four former UFC champs.
