Former UFC champion Josh Barnett would not confirm if he was headed to the UFC after submitting Nador Guelmino Saturday night at Strikeforce: Marquardt vs. Saffiedine. The card was the final one for Strikeforce, but Barnett has had issues dealing with Zuffa and the UFC in the past.
“I have no idea where I’m going to end up,” Barnett said.
Barnett, who spends plenty of time away from the cage competing in pro wrestling, told Pat Miletich that he would “always (be) in pro wrestling. I fight to entertain the crowd. I bring death so you guys can cheer.”
Barnett was battling a flu virus that kept him from training, but he had no trouble putting Guelmino away. After a second takedown, Barnett (32-6) locked in an arm triangle choke and finished off his 20th submission victory.
“If you’re an (expletive) kicker, you can take people out (even when you are not healthy),” Barnett said. “You don’t sit around. You get in there and you either die like a man or you leave your opponent dead.”
