Bibiano Fernandes Thought ONE FC Was A Better Option Than The UFC

Bibiano Fernandes (13-3) was offered a chance to be a part of the UFC roster in late 2012, but turned it down in favor of a ONE FC contract.

He decided that it was better financially for his family if he stayed with ONCE FC, thus he signed a multi-fight contract with them.

“Of course I’m happy with my choice,” said Fernandes to MMA Weekly. “My last fight was already aired live all over North America so [the fans] can still follow me. Right now my focus is with ONE FC; what the future holds only God knows.”

That recent win was at DREAM 18 where he defeated Yoshiro Maeda in round one via triangle choke. That was his ninth DREAM appearance and win. He is their former featherweight and current bantamweight champion. Since 2008 he has gone 12-1 with the only loss being when he dropped the title.

Fernandes’s next ONE FC fight is not known. The promotion returns in February, but Fernandes has not been mentioned to appear.
