Jamie Varner’s (21-7-1-2 NC) win over Melvin Guillard (30-12-2-1 NC) is not even two weeks old, but that hasn’t stopped the former WEC lightweight champion from looking for his next fight. The name that stands to him most is Joe Lauzon (22-8), who defeated him over the summer at UFC on FOX.
“I want to start my retribution tour,” said Varner on Sherdog Radio. “I want to start fighting the guys that I’ve lost to. First would definitely be Joe Lauzon. I’d really like to fight Joe again.”
That loss was the only blemish on Varner’s record in 2012, where he went 3-1. Their bout earned Fight of the Night honors after Lauzon submitted Varner with a triangle choke in the second round.
If the two are to meet once again, it’ll have to wait as Lauzon has been medically suspended until February 28 due to several large gashes in his previous fight with Jim Miller (22-4).
Neither fighter is currently linked to a fight.
