According to a report by MMA Interviews, UFC female bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey could be in store for a huge paycheck come UFC 157: Rousey vs. Carmouche. The champion faces Liz Carmouche in the main event, and could be in line to score a $150,000 check from the UFC.
The site confirmed with a source close to Carmouche that Rousey will be awarded $75,000 for competing and would get another $75,000 for defeating Carmouche. Also, “Rowdy” is set to earn a share of the pay-per-view revenue. In contrast, Carmouche’s salary is set at $12,000 to show and $12,000 to win.
Rousey’s manager, Darin Harvey, denied the report, saying, “Dana White takes very good care of his stars and you cannot go by the commission numbers.” Harvey declined to mention any numbers in the official contract.
The actual take-home money earned by most fighters is not disclosed, as the commission only requires and show and win money to be announced. However, if the report is true, Rousey would be in for a larger payday than UFC champions Dominick Cruz, Jose Aldo, Benson Henderson and Demetrious Johnson.
