Invicta FC’s first internet PPV passed, but it didn’t go without a hitch. Several people who purchased the PPV through USTREAM ran into several difficulties. Either their payment wouldn’t be accepted, the show repeatedly crashed or the live stream failed to appear.
Invicta FC president Shannon Knapp reached out to USTREAM during the live broadcast. She was met with silence from their end.
“There was no one responding,” Knapp to MMA Junkie. “And people don’t get upset with USTREAM. They get upset with us because it’s our commitment and our word.”
After seeing that the problem would not be solved immediately, Knapp informed USTREAM to drop the charges and air the PPV for free. She has promised to refund anyone who purchased the show for $7.95.
The promotion decided to charge for their first ever show so they could send the data to TV networks in hopes of landing a TV spot. That idea was thrown out the window after the problems with USTREAM.
Invicta FC 4 took place from the Memorial Hall in Kansas City, KS on January 5. In the main event, Carla Esparza defeated Bec Hyatt via unanimous decision to win the inaugural strawweight championship
April will be Invicta FC’s return to action. Knapp said if that show doesn’t have a TV partner, they will still air the show in some fashion. She couldn’t specify if it would be for free.
