Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos has already re-watched his recent loss to Cain Velasquez a number of times. Dos Santos, who was bruised and battered for 25 minutes, discussed why he feels Velasquez controlled the action.
“I didn’t fight. I don’t know why. If you watch the fight – I’ve watched the fight three times already – I didn’t fight,” said dos Santos, while a guest on MMAjunkie.com Radio Friday. “I just defended myself. I don’t know why. I don’t know what happened to me.”
Dos Santos (15-2) said he was injury free before and after the fight, adding, I got my face swollen a lot, but I didn’t get injured. I was feeling OK.”
“Cigano” once again stated his desire to face Velasquez in a rematch. Velasquez was given a second shot at dos Santos after defeating Antonio Silva early in 2012.
“I think the fans would love to see this rematch right now,” dos Santos said. “I would love to have this rematch right now. I don’t know if it’s possible, or if Cain Velasquez is going to accept it, but I would love it.”
UFC president Dana White stated after the bout that the winner of Alistair Overeem and Silva would be declared the No. 1 contender. The two heavyweights meet in February at UFC 156: Aldo vs. Edgar.
