Invicta FC is far from closing and is doing great business wise according the promotion’s president Shannon Knapp. In 2012, the promotion hosted three shows and streamed them for free on their website. In their first show of the new calendar year, they will be charging for the first time as they make their PPV debut.
“We’re not in dire straits,” said Knapp to USA TODAY. “If we were, I think you’d see a different price point on the pay-per-view. For us, moving to pay-per-view is more about finding another way to acquire data that shows where we’re at.”
Knapp hopes that executives will notice the numbers the PPV does, with the possibility of reaching some kind of TV deal. Knapp also said that that their fourth show is selling well based on early figures.
Invicta FC 4 airs tomorrow, January 5, for $7.95 on PPV. It is headlined with Bec Hyatt vs. Carla Esparza to crown the first ever strawweight champion.
