Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney is disputing Paul Daley’s (30-12-2) comments that he was given permission to fight for another promotion while he awaits to see if he can obtain a new visa.
“For the time being, nothing has been approved,” said Rebney to Bloody Elbow. “If the process that we’ve laid out is followed, I think a fight for him could occur, but until that happens he’s in a hold mode and we’ll see what happens.”
Earlier in the week, Daley posted on his Facebook that Bellator would not allow him compete outside the promotion. He retracted is statement after he said that Bellator gave him the green light to compete for Cage Contenders in Ireland. Rebney denied that any agreement has been reached. He continued that he has allowed fighters to compete outside of the promotion and that’s fine, as long as they run it by Bellator first.
Daley is currently not allowed to travel overseas due to an alleged bar fight in late December. He has a court date set for April to see if he can obtain another visa.
