Nate Marquardt (32-10-2) and UFC president Dana White have had an on-again, off-again type of relationship. It seems that the two are on neutral grounds currently with White suggesting that Marquardt will be rejoining the UFC shortly.
“There’s no hard feelings going forward and I’m grateful for the opportunity and I plan on making the most of it,” said Marquardt on MMA HEAT.
The tension between the two stems from Marquardt’s 2011 UFC release. Marquardt was given TRT by a doctor, which elevated his testosterone level higher then permitted. He was released due to this, despite the next day having testosterone levels that were considered in range.
Marquardt fought once since then, knocking out Tyron Woodley (10-1) to win the vacant Strikeforce welterweight championship. He will make his first and final Strikeforce title defense against Tarec Saffiedine (13-3).
The two will headline the final Strikeforce card on January 12. The show takes place from the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, OK and airs on Showtime.
