Dana White Has Decided If Nate Marquardt Returns To The UFC

Nate Marquardt’s (32-10-2) UFC career came to an end after his testosterone level came back higher than expected for a fight with Rick Story (14-6) at in 2011. He was subsequently released by the promotion, with UFC president Dana White stating that Marquardt’s days in the UFC were over.

Since then, Marquardt has found success with Strikeforce where he is their welterweight champion. Now that Strikeforce is closing, White is open to bringing Marquardt back to the UFC.

“Yeah, probably,” said White post-fight at UFC 155. “I would have to say so. I was never in a bad way with him. I like Nate Marquardt, he’s one of the nicest guys ever. You know how I get; I get bummed out when guys do stuff like that. You’re a professional, show up here and do what you’re supposed to do.”

At the final Strikeforce show, Marquardt will be the only fighter for the promotion to put his title on the line. He takes on Tarec Saffiedine (13-3) on the January 12 event. It takes place from the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, OK. Showtime will air the main card.
