The UFC has its sights set on Madison Square Garden for 2013. And, despite legal issues that are currently keeping the promotion from holding an event in New York, UFC president Dana White is certain something can be worked out.
“I plan on being in New York in 2013 for the UFC’s 20th anniversary,” White said, following the UFC 155 post-fight press conference Saturday. “That’s my goal.”
White added that the goal is to “get in New York in November for the 20th anniversary at Madison Square Garden. MSG’s behind us 100-percent – they want it bad.” The brash boss even said a date has been reserved for the show, and a main event in the works, though he didn’t release that information.
MMA is currently not legalized in the state of New York, though the UFC has worked hard over the past several years to change that.
