Costa Philippou Takes Advantage Of Opportunity, Feels Like ‘Million Dollars’ After UFC 155 Win

Chris Weidman was the one expected to square off with Tim Boetsch at UFC 155: Dos Santos vs. Velasquez II Saturday night. However, Weidman’s teammate, Costa Philippou stepped in when “The All-American” went down.

Philippou battered Boetsch, securing his fifth consecutive victory and making a statement to the rest of the UFC’s 185-pound division.

“Like a million dollars,” said Philippou, when asked how he feels after the win on Fuel TV. “There’s no other way to describe it. I was stressing on this fight. People telling me I don’t belong out there, and I almost believed them. But, deep down, I believed in myself.”

Philippou (12-2) has suffered just one UFC loss, falling by decision to Nick Catone in his debut back in 2011. He closes out 2012 with a 3-0 record, having defeated Riki Fukuda and Court McGee, as well.

As for those mythical rankings, though, Philippou preferred to not guess where he might be rated, saying, “I don’t know. I’m 5-0 now. You guys tell me where I belong.”
