Tim Boetsch On No. 1 Contender To Middleweight Championship

Tim Boetsch (16-4) looks at the middleweight division and sees several names, all with valid points for why they should get the next the next title shot. If Boetsch had to narrow it down to two names, it would have to be himself and Chris Weidman (9-0).

“Honestly, I don’t think there is a clear number one contender,” said Boetsch to Bleacher Report. “I think it is a tie between Chris Weidman and myself.”

At UFC 155, Boetsch and Weidman were to compete before an injury caused Weidman to pull out. He was replaced by Constantinos Philippou (11-2).

Boetsch said he heard that Michael Bisping (23-4) will get the next shot if he defeats Vitor Belfort (21-10) and didn’t seem to agree with that idea.

“To me that doesn’t make sense at all,” said Boetsch.

Boetsch vs. Philippou are set for the main card of UFC 155 later today, December 29, from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV. The first preliminary fight starts at 6:35 p.m. ET and FightLine will have complete coverage from the PPV.
