UFC president Dana White said during a pre-fight press conference on Thursday that he was surprised by the MMA explosion that took over Brazil, as he was forecasting it for Mexico. However, that doesn’t mean the promotion is giving up on the country.
White informed members of the media following the presser for UFC 155: Dos Santos vs. Velasquez II that The Ultimate Fighter: Mexico is in the works for 2013.
“That’s what we’re doing. We’re going down there, we’re casting and we’re working on an Ultimate Fighter: Mexico,” White said. “We’ll get this thing squared away. Get The Ultimate Fighter running down there.”
The UFC has held TUF shows in the U.S., Brazil and a version that featured England vs. Australia.
