Xtreme Fighting Championship (XFC) had a spectacular year according to president and matchmaker John Prisco. His highlight of the year was watching one handed fighter Nick Newell (9-0) secure his first title.
“I think the biggest moment, and one of the biggest moments in all of MMA, was our last moment in 2012 with Nick Newell winning the XFC lightweight title,” said Prisco to MMA Weekly.
Newell gained fame for fighting with just one hand due to a medical condition at birth. Newell is undefeated in his career, where he picked up his last four wins out of XFC. With the exception of one fight, he has ended all of them in the first round. At XFC 21, Newell submitted Bellator veteran Eric Reynolds (16-6) to win the lightweight championship.
XFC currently airs on AXS TV, but Prisco is looking to expand their viewing audience in 2013. They are also looking to run about 14 shows next year. They will have more shows in North Carolina, Tennessee, Florida and other states that house military bases.
