Alistair Overeem Can Re-Apply For His Fight License Now

Former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem has served out his suspension by the Nevada Athletic Commission and can now apply for his fight license. Overeem was suspended earlier this year after a failed pre-fight test.

On Twitter late Wednesday evening, Overeem sent out a message and attached the UFC 156: Aldo vs. Edgar fight poster to it. The poster features “The Reem” and his scheduled opponent, Antonio Silva, for the February card from Las Vegas.

“And..-it’s on!,” Overeem wrote.

The UFC received permission from the NAC to begin promoting Overeem for the card despite his suspension. The fighter now can re-apply anytime, and he has stated previously that several tests have been given to him by the commission as he tries to clear his name of illegal drug use.

UPDATE: According to Heidi Fang of The MMA Corner, Keith Kizer confirmed that Overeem applied for his fight license earlier Thursday. Kizer said the hearing would be January 8.
