Daniel Cormier’s (10-0) cancelled bout with Frank Mir (16-6) doesn’t sit well with the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix Champion, who hates unfinished business. When Cormier heads over to the UFC after his final Strikeforce fight, he said he would remain at heavyweight to challenge Mir.
“I think Mir and I have some unfinished business,” said Cormier to BJ Penn Radio. “I put in a six week training camp for Mir before he pulled out a month before the fight. All the things I learned in that camp and I worked on I want to be able to use on him inside of the cage.”
The November Strikeforce card was to be headlined by Cormier vs. Mir. After Mir pulled himself from the fight with an injury, the card was scratched altogether weeks later when no replacement could be found.
At the final Strikeforce show, which takes place on January 12, 2013, Cormier takes on Dion Staring (28-7) in the co-main event. The event takes place out of the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, OK.
